Abstract – Social media was prominent in facilitating election-related discussions but hastened fake news' proliferation. Thus, this study examined the impact of fake news on the people's stances during the 2022 Philippine presidential elections, explicitly focusing on Gen Z Filipino students. Through surveys and interviews, variables such as social media use, fake news frequency, and media literacy were considered to provide a comprehensive analysis. Findings revealed that fake news changed their perception of specific candidates to a degree depending on their media literacy level. This highlights the importance of addressing fake news and increasing media literacy among Gen Z Filipinos.
