Implementing Multi-Cancer Early Detection Tests To Improve Standard-Of-Care Cancer Detection

Abstract – Cancer diagnostic tools have contributed significantly to reducing cancer mortality. However, current standard-of-care(SOC) screening tools have several limitations such as high false-positive rates. Multi-cancer Early Detection (MCED) tests, which screen for a broad range of cancers from a sample of biofluid, offer opportunities to fill in these gaps. However, with the available technology today, it is critical that MCED tests are used in conjunction with existing SOC tests rather than on their own. This review will provide an overview of currently available MCED tests and highlight how their implementation into the diagnostic workflow will significantly improve cancer detection.
