Abstract – The marine litter problem is becoming worldwide, but many people cannot recognize its severity and avoid the responsibility for solving it. To improve water quality, an experiment was conducted to purify water from microplastics and heavy metals using recycled face masks. The experiment demonstrated that face masks like KF94 and KF80, can filter hazardous substances in water like marine heavy metals. The experiment used 3D printing and IoT devices to control flow speed and measure filtering performance with iron powder. This study proposes creating an automatic filtering product to improve marine water quality using self-generated electric power from water flow.
