THE EFFECTS OF A POST-ROE AMERICA ON FILIPINO WOMEN’S SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH RIGHTS

by Bianca Marie Sacramento et al
Category:
Abstract – The overturning of Roe V. Wade case in the United States, which has re-criminalized abortion, stirred debates on the abortion rights globally. The substantial influence of the US on the Philippines has put a risk on the latter’s sexual and reproductive health rights (SRH). The data used is derived from interviews, content analysis, and statistics. Contrary to what is assumed, post-Roe America affects the Philippines’ SRH climate because of the American influence, Catholic Church, and lack of sex education. Moreover, the study suggests that the new generation of Filipino women pushes for progression and focus on women’s SRH.
