Abstract – Self-managed learning is a crucial component of academic success. In order to be productive and effective in self-study, learners have to choose and engage with efficient study strategies that will bring forth a high level of learning. Therefore, this research aims to determine the most widely used study techniques of Grade 11 PSHS-MC students, their reasons for choosing such techniques, and the recurring problems that hinder effective self-managed learning. Accordingly, interviews and content analysis will be utilized to gather qualitative data. Participants will be asked to narrate their personal study routines in order to get an in-depth understanding of the effects of their chosen study strategies and their bases for selecting them. Then, the utility of their chosen study strategies will be evaluated using the findings in the monograph of Dunlosky et al. (2013). With the help of the findings of this research, students can be equipped with the right knowledge in order to incorporate more efficient and effective study techniques in their self-managed learning. They can be more aware of common pitfalls and misconceptions regarding studying. Furthermore, teachers are also part of the beneficiaries of this study, as this can help them adjust their teaching strategies and create assessments according to learning techniques that produce high-order thinking skills.
