Abstract – Limb regeneration is an important area of scientific research, with a rising focus on studying emerging newt transcriptomes to further elucidate the molecular mechanisms of regeneration. This study compares established transcriptomes of B. ramosi and C. pyrrhogaster during early limb regeneration to find overlapping sequences. After filtering known transcripts using local-blast, InterProScan, GO annotation, and Swiss Modeling, three candidate novel sequences were found to have the following predicted protein domain signatures: Neurabin-1, MARCKS, and Stem cell factor, which may pertain to regenerative processes. This research can provide insight for future studies to discover the functional roles of these genes.
