RESEARCH ABOUT ANTIMICROBIAL MASK USING ALGINIC ACID MEMBRANE

by Seoin Choi
Category: STEM
Abstract – Due to Covid-19, people all over the world use masks every day resulting in a tremendous amount of mask waste. This study aims to come up with a new material for masks considering the detrimental effects of masks on the environment. It is important for the material that will be used in the new type of mask to be eco-friendly while also maintaining the filtering ability of the mask. Recently, it has been suggested that overlooking the damages masks bring to the environment, it seems like environmental pollution may cause more damage and put humanity at a greater risk even after the pandemic (Kyungho, 2020). Therefore, it is imperative to study about the materials of masks that can be environmentally friendly while also being antimicrobial and adequate as a material of a new type of masks. This study presents the adequate materials for masks considering its antimicrobial ability and also its practicality.
